JODHPUR Two incredible architectural masterpieces dominate feudal Jodhpur -the imposing Meherangarh Fort and the equally staggering 20th century art deco Jewel - Umaid Bhawan Palace.  Between them lies the city of Jodhpur, former capital of Marwar State, which retains much of its medieval character.  Tall proud Jodhpur men with their lovingly curled, big moustaches, jostle on camel and carts, through the sandy lanes of this delightful, slow pace city set on the edge of the Thar Desert.

RANAKPUR is the site of the magnificent Jain Temples, lying in a shaded valley enclosed by a wall of stone.  The twenty-nine temple halls are supported by hundreds of stone pillars, each uniquely carved.  Subsidiary shrines and sculpted temple cells (adorned with erotic sculpture) surround an immense central hall crowned with twenty different domes.

UDAIPUR is one of the most charming and romantic cities in all of Rajasthan.  It nestles like a gem in a valley surrounded by green hills, reflected smooth and white in the clear blue waters of Lake Pichola.  The city is webbed with narrow medieval roads and winding lanes with small temples at each turning.
